4.1 Activity sectors and geographical activity map
In this sector, MYTILINEOS Group is active through
its subsidiary ALUNINIUM OF GREECE (AoG), one
of the strong pillars of Greek industry and a driving
force for the growth of the Greek economy and the
development of the Greek periphery, with an annu-
al production capacity that exceeds 170,000 tons of
aluminium and 815,000 tons of alumina. AoG and
its subsidiary DELPHI-DISTOMON apply produc-
tion and trade processes on a par with those of the
world’s top metallurgical industries and are today
Europe’s largest vertically integrated alumina and
aluminium producer and the second largest baux-
ite producer in Greece, with an annual production
of 650,000 tons.
METKA S.A., MYTILINEOS Group company, is to-
day a leading Greek exporting company and one
of the top Greek businesses in the construction
sector. It competes on an equal footing with glob-
al giants and has been established as one of the
strongest players in the global market for EPC
projects (i.e. the implementation of large-scale
turnkey projects, providing the complete range of
Design, Procurement and Constructionservices).
In the EPC Projects Sector, METKA S.A. is focusing
on foreign markets and is successfully competing
and securing large projects for the construction of
power plants in Europe, the Middle East and Afri-
ca, specialising in high-efficiency gas-driven power
plants. In parallel, its strong industrial production
base allows it to manufacture custom mechanical
parts and to have a strong presence as a specialist
contractor for Infrastructure and Defence projects.
In ddition, by obtaining a 7th Class Contractor's Cer-
tificate, METKA S.A. has expanded the prospects for
its participation in a broad range of public works in
the Greek market.
Through PROTERGIA, MYTILINEOS Group is
Greece's largest independent electricity producer.
The company manages an energy portfolio with
an installed capacity in excess of 1,200 MW, which
accounts for more than 10% of the country's total
electricity production. In parallel, through private,
environment-friendly investments in hi-tech pow-
er plants, it makes a significant contribution to the
Greek economy and to employment. The strategy
of PROTERGIA focuses on the acquisition and/or
management of a dynamic and balanced portfo-
lio of power generation assets, with emphasis on
gas-driven thermal plants and RES-based plants,
which responds successfully to the ever-changing
landscape of the Greek energy market and meets
the requirements of the EU’s energy policies. In
addition, the company is active in the wholesale
and retail electricity markets and in the market for

emissions trading, with plans for future ex-
pansion, to neighbouring countries with growing
energy demand.
