METLEN and Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon have entered into a ten-year bilateral Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), reaffirming both companies’ commitment to accelerating the energy transition and reducing their environmental footprint.
The agreement covers the supply of electricity from a photovoltaic plant of an approximately 12 MW capacity located in the Mikro Perivolaki area in Velestino, in the Prefecture of Magnesia. Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon will offtake 100% of the electricity generated by the project, which is estimated at approximately 16.5 GWh annually.
As part of its parent company Coca-Cola HBC’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon already sources 100% of the electricity used at its production facilities from renewable energy sources. Through this agreement, Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon will secure the supply of a “higher quality” green energy, while also supporting the development of new renewable energy projects in pursuit of a more sustainable future for all.
METLEN has a strong and long-standing presence in the Greek and international renewable energy markets, with a proven track record in the development, construction (EPC), operation and maintenance (O&M) of large-scale energy projects. In Greece, METLEN has an operating renewable energy portfolio of approximately 0.5 GW in total capacity, while globally it has completed or is currently executing projects with a total capacity of 11.4 GW, across five continents. At the same time, METLEN’s Renewable Energy Aggregator, under the Company’s Integrated Utility platform, undertakes the full management and commercialisation of the electricity generated, ensuring its efficient integration into electricity markets. It represents a renewable energy portfolio with a total installed capacity of more than 3.2 GW across Greece, Italy and Romania.
Corporate PPAs are a key pillar of METLEN’s strategy to provide integrated and competitive energy solutions to major industrial and commercial consumers. Through agreements such as this one with Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon, METLEN continues to play a leading role in shaping the evolving energy market and in accelerating Greece’s green transition.
