The Engineers in Action programme was launched as one of METLEN’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, with an international reach, and has evolved into a professional development programme that brings new talent into the Company.
METLEN places strong emphasis on professional experience and development, practical training and skills acquisition, contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 4 & 8) towards 2030, focused on Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth.
The Engineers in Action programme was launched in February 2014, and since then, nine programme cycles have been completed.
All programme cycles have been highly successful. All participating engineers found employment within three months of completing the programme, while some joined METLEN, filling available positions. In fact, 80% of the engineers who completed the programme are currently working across METLEN’s two sectors, subsidiaries or Central Functions and Services, while the remaining participants leveraged the competitive advantage gained through the programme to secure employment soon after.
According to the young engineers who participated in the first eight programme cycles, the most significant outcomes of their experience were:
